Certain products require permits or licenses before entering Belize.
Tariffs and quotas may vary depending on:

• The origin of the goods (e.g. CARICOM vs. non-CARICOM countries)

• Local market supply of agricultural products

The following goods may be imported only with a license or permit:

Belize does not have a fixed age limit, but:

• Vehicles older than 5 years incur higher environmental taxes

• Very old or poor-condition vehicles may be rejected if deemed unroadworthy

• New or recent-model vehicles are encouraged for safety and emissions complianc

• Belize drives on the right side of the road

• Left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles are standard and preferred

• Right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles are restricted:

  • Allowed only with Ministry of Transport approval

  • Must be converted or certified as safe

  • Often discouraged for new imports
