1. Age & Emissions Requirements

• Passenger Cars: Must meet EU emissions standards (typically Euro 5 or Euro 6 for recent imports).

• Older vehicles may face higher taxes or restrictions if they don’t comply with EU regulations.

• Classic or collector vehicles (over 30 years old) may qualify for exemptions but require special approval and may be subject to additional duties.

2. Prohibited Vehicle Types

• Right-Hand Drive Vehicles: Not permitted for registration in Lithuania. Only left-hand drive vehicles are accepted.

• Severely Damaged, Salvage, or Rebuilt Vehicles: Restricted and may be denied entry unless properly documented.

⚠️ Note: Import duties in Lithuania (as part of the EU) are based on vehicle value, engine size, age, and emissions compliance, so newer and eco-friendly vehicles are more cost-effective to import.

Lithuania, as a member of the European Union, enforces strict customs regulations to ensure public safety, health, and environmental protection. Items that are prohibited or heavily restricted include:
